Playing Out The Future
Most market research is diagnostic. It creates a picture of the current landscape (for example: “1 in 5 Americans believe…”) and develops recommendations by inferring them from a mostly static snapshot. At PSB, we play out scenarios into the future and use research as a laboratory to understand how different moves might impact each other. We test the guidance we provide to the point that we are confident that it will succeed despite competitors’ likely responses. Ultimately having a clear picture of the current state of play can be useful but knowing how events will play out in the future is critical.
